Evaluation Day

To ensure a safe, calm, and Fear Free®-aligned environment for every dog, we require an evaluation before your dog can participate in daycare. At our service, the evaluation is simply your dog’s first daycare session — nothing extra required.

We do not offer meet-and-greets inside our premises, and owners do not enter our premises or yard. This helps keep the environment stable, low-stimulus, and stress-free for the dogs currently in our care.

We do not accept male dogs over 12 months that have not been de-sexed.

What the Evaluation Looks Like

During your dog’s first daycare visit, we gently assess:

• Comfort level in a new environment - we allow your dog to explore at their own pace and settle before meeting other dogs.

• Body language & emotional wellbeing - we look for relaxed postures, confidence indicators, and any signs of fear, anxiety, or stress.

• Social compatibility - we monitor how your dog interacts with others — whether they enjoy play, prefer quiet time, or need slower introductions.

• Response to our routine - we observe how your dog handles rest times, enrichment, toileting patterns, feeding, and play.

• Play style & energy level - this helps us match them with suitable playmates and decide how much stimulation they enjoy.

• Individual needs - we take note of any sensitivities, triggers, or comfort strategies that help your dog settle.

After the Evaluation

We will update you on how your dog went and discuss:

• Whether they are a good fit for group daycare

• Any adjustments that may support their comfort

• Recommended visit lengths or frequency tailored to your dog

• Whether solo or small-group play is best

• Any special handling or enrichment they may benefit from
