NSW's First Fear Free® Certified Doggy Daycare

Sydney Pet Sitting & Doggy Daycare is proud to be recognised as the first Fear Free® Certified doggy daycare in New South Wales.

We chose to pursue Fear Free® certification because we believe dogs deserve more than simply being supervised whilst with us. They deserve to feel safe, comfortable, and emotionally supported.

As pioneers of Fear Free® dog daycare in NSW, we believe a dog's emotional wellbeing is just as important as their physical care. Our goal is not simply to supervise dogs, our goal is to create an environment where dogs feel safe, understood, comfortable, and genuinely happy.

Fear Free® is a science-based approach that focuses on reducing fear, anxiety, and stress through gentle handling, positive experiences, and a deeper understanding of canine behaviour and body language.

We are proud to be helping raise awareness of Fear Free® pet care throughout Sydney and the Macarthur region while setting the benchmark for compassionate, science-based dog daycare.

Because Fear Free® care isn’t just about what we do — it’s about how your dog feels while they’re with us

What Is Fear Free®?

Fear Free® is a globally recognised education and certification program designed to help pet care professionals reduce fear, anxiety, and stress in animals.

Fear Free® training focuses on understanding canine behaviour, recognising body language, using positive reinforcement, and creating environments that support emotional wellbeing. Rather than expecting dogs to adapt to stressful situations, Fear Free® teaches professionals how to adapt the environment and handling techniques to better support the dog.

At Sydney Pet Sitting & Doggy Daycare, Fear Free® is not simply a certification. It influences how we introduce dogs, provide enrichment, design our space, and care for every dog entrusted to us.

Why Fear Free® Matters

Many dogs experience stress when placed in unfamiliar environments or separated from their families. Stress can affect a dog's behaviour, confidence, appetite, and overall wellbeing.

Signs of stress may include:

• Pacing

• Trembling

• Excessive barking

• Hiding

• Withdrawal

• Refusing food

• Lip licking or yawning excessively

• Reactivity towards other dogs

Unfortunately, these signs are often misunderstood or overlooked.

Fear Free® care focuses on recognising these early signs and making adjustments before a dog becomes overwhelmed.

Our goal is not simply to keep dogs safe. Our goal is to help them feel safe.

What Fear Free® Looks Like at
Sydney Pet Sitting & Doggy Daycare

Slow and Positive Introductions

We never rush introductions.

Every new dog is introduced gradually and at a pace that suits their personality, confidence level, and individual needs. This allows dogs to build positive associations and settle comfortably into our environment.

Small, Carefully Managed Social Group

We intentionally keep our daycare group small so we can provide personalised supervision, care & attention to every dog.

Understanding Canine Body Language

We continuously monitor canine body language and behaviour. By recognising subtle signs of stress, we can intervene early and provide support.

Choice and Control

Dogs have access to rest opportunities throughout the day. Providing choice helps dogs feel more secure and allows them to engage with their environment at their own pace.

Positive Reinforcement

We use rewards, praise, enrichment, and relationship-based handling techniques.

Fear Free® care focuses on building trust and confidence rather than relying on force, intimidation, or punishment.

Individualised Care

Every dog is unique.

Some dogs love social interaction, while others prefer a quieter environment. We tailor our approach to suit the individual dog rather than expecting every dog to fit the same mould.

Setting the Standard for Fear Free® Dog Care in NSW

As the first Fear Free® Certified doggy daycare in NSW, we are proud to be leading the way in modern, science-based pet care.

Our commitment to continuing education, professional development, and evidence-based practices ensures we remain at the forefront of low-stress dog daycare.

We believe the future of pet care is about more than exercise and supervision. It is about understanding canine emotions, respecting individual needs, and creating positive experiences that support lifelong wellbeing.
